Call 112 immediately

You need to act fast in life-threatening situations. If you suspect anyone is suffering from any of the below symptoms, you shall immediately call 112 (the emergency number).

Life-threatening situations

  • Brain infarction/bleeding (stroke) or disruptions in the blood circulation in the brain (TIA)
  • Cardiac arrest or severe chest pain with cold sweat and lack of strength
  • Respiratory distress or severe lack of breath, the person can't speak or speaks only single words
  • Unconsciousness
  • The person isn't breathing, and you can't wake him/her up
  • Head injury followed by reduced consciousness or loss of consciousness
  • Symptoms of paralysis, such as sudden relaxation of extremities or speech impediment
  • Seizures that do not stop
  • Bleeding caused by major injuries
  • Traffic accidents and other serious accidents
  • Falls from great height

  • Severe headache that has started suddenly

  • New heart rhythm disruption
  • Children under 3 months old having a fever

Symptoms that could require a visit to the ER

  • 4th day with a fever over 38 °C (100 °F), even if there are no other symptoms
  • Stomachflu, adults only if they do not get enough fluid or if the they have another underlying disease
  • Severe earache
  • Continuous nasal bleeding
  • Small wounds, crush injuries, muscle strains
  • Suspicion of a bone fracture in upper or lower extremities
  • Eye symptoms, eye inflammation
  • Urinary retention, urinary tract infection
  • Abundant gynecological haemorrhaging
  • Strong abdominal pain
  • Dizziness, elderly with worsened general condition
  • Hypersensitivity with rashes
  • Local skin infection
  • Confusion, hallucinations, severe anxiety
